I had the pleasure and amazing opportunity to attend the youth exchange held in Costinești, concerned with the very actual topic of youth unemployment at national and European level. Through the well thought process and activities we joined teams and started to work and immerse deeper into the methodologies and preparations regarding jobs.
This covered topics like: how to search for jobs, expectations, the privilege to choose your job, interview documents, interview attendance, how to successfully apply and get a job in the digital era (LinkedIn), knowing your rights and managing uncomfortable or unfair situations at the workplace. The informal educational methods involved a natural learning dynamic based on mutual help, curiosity and teamwork that let us build deeper connections, cooperation and cohesive spirit that developed our creativity and problem solving abilities. The guidance of the coordinators when stumbling upon problems was very helpful and polished our tasks to the little details.
We even had a trip to Constanta that had us discover a new intriguing place, full of cultural heritage and further helped us understand the job challenges people face as we asked people around in order to find more about the job market and the issues encountered in searching for a job.
My favourite task of the project was the one when we were consigned the dare of creating a short clip that aimed to display the job challenges youngsters and people face, such as searching for the wanted positions, attending interviews and all about the process of applying for a job. Demanding, still fun as we worked in teams, provoking our creativity and acting skills, I loved this one especially as it challenged us to summarize all the information we gathered throughout the entire project and present it in an ingenious witty way for the public, using also our digital video crafting skills.
Moreover, the cultural nights that took place every night strengthened our group’s bond and made us aware of the beauty of the other cultures, as well as they provided us with plenty of interesting facts about countries’ people, values and history. I learned a lot about Poland, Italy, Bulgaria and Turkey and became mindful of how unhealthy and far from the truth stereotypes are. People are friendly, kind and helpful no matter where they come from if you are open to see it. I enjoyed learning Lithuanian and Bulgarian dances, it was a lot of fun, polish tongue twisters “Iola loyalna, Iola neloyalna”, tasting Turkish delicious food, like Pişmaniye and enjoying the energetic and passionate spirit of the Italians.
I’m grateful I got to meet and get to know all the people involved in this project! Each and every one of the participants was so kind, friendly, sweet, helpful, smart and each had their own special thing, skill, energy and experiences that they shared with everyone.
It was a true honour to meet these incredible people, spend productive and educative time in a manner that felt effortless and develop my entrepreneurial, digital, language, personal, social and learning to learn competences.
I had an amazing time and learned so many things! If you want to make friends, learn something new in a playful enjoyable way or you’re just curios, I 100% encourage you to apply for a Erasmus+ program!
Kind regards,
